Modifying Desktop Properties 

You can change the way your desktop looks by modifying Desktop Properties. Access the Display Properties quickly by Right Clicking on an unused portion of the desktop and selecting 'Properties'. You can customize the following: 

· Background tab 

o Background & Wallpaper (Tiled wallpaper will cover any selected background) 

· Screen Saver tab 

o Select from several pre installed types, and customize aspects such as wait time before the screen saver is displayed 

· Appearance tab 

o Select one of many color schemes (or create your own) Desktop Icon alignment: 

Right click on an unused section of the desktop and select 'Arrange Icons', and choose how you'd like the icons to be arranged. Or arrange them one by one...

The Control Panel can be used to change your computer's system settings. You can, for example, change the color and pattern of your desktop, and remove programs and hardware devices. Click the Start button and then select Settings. When the sub menu appears, position your mouse over Control Panel and click.

After you've click Control Panel, the Control Panel window appears. To change the settings for a particular item, double-click an icon. Icons that display in the Control Panel may differ from computer system to computer system. If you wanted to change the date or time, select 'Date/Time'. To alter the sounds that your computer makes for different events, select 'Sounds', and choose a different sound scheme.
